Friday Celebration!

Image
Fantastic work this week everyone. Looks like you have all got right back into the swing of things. You have all put in so much effort this week (you too grown-ups) and your standard of work has really been amazing! Our workers of this week are as follows: Bluebells - Maryam & Raihan  Sunflowers - Aroush & Saahil Another fantastic week of learning done everybody, keep it up!  To parents, you should've received an email today detailing a move from the blog to Google Classrooms. On the email was a personalised login for your child. We will be setting a creative task using the Google Classroom on Monday but phonics and maths will still be here on the blog. Next week will be used as a transition onto the new platform. Using this platform will allow us to deliver online lessons live and we can have video chats with the children and they can speak to each other, which we are really looking forward to.  Here are some snaps from this

Project Friday - 12th June

The Queen's Birthday 👑 The Queen is such an important person, that she has 2 birthdays! Her actual birthday (the day she was born) is on 21 st April but her official birthday is on the second Saturday in June (which is tomorrow !). This tradition started back in the 17 th century because the King’s birthday was in November and he decided that it was too cold to celebrate his birthday then. So he decided to have another birthday in June so more celebrations could take place outside. This official birthday is called ‘Trooping for Colour’ and usually there are lots of celebrations in London and around Buckingham Palace to mark the event. Unfortunately they are cancelled this year due to the virus, so instead we thought we’d create some lovely tasks for you to get involved at home. Crown making The Queen is the head of the Royal family so our first activity is to make yourself a crown. The Crown Jewels are very famous! Royal Puzzles and Colouring Puzz

Thursday Science Task

Good Morning! Today we are going to do a 'sink or float' experiment! Firstly, ask your child: What does 'sinking' mean? What does 'floating' mean? Once they understand the vocabulary, fill up a bowl or a bucket with water and gather objects from around the house or garden to experiment with.  E.g. Coin Bath toy Pen Spoon Cup Straw Tennis ball  Can  Apple Before you start the experiment, ask your child to predict (guess) whether it will sink or float. Why do they think this? Were they right?

Wednesday Creative Task

Good morning! For today's creative task we are going to having a look at repeating patterns. I have attached a picture of a fish and using a piece of celery, dab it in paint and stamp onto your picture to create scales for your fish. Pick 3 colours and see if you can do a repeating pattern E.g. blue, red, yellow, blue, red, yellow... If you don't have any paint then you could make some! 1/2 cup of flour 1/2 cup of salt 1/2 cup of water Food colouring Blend the flour and salt. Add the water and mix until smooth. Divide the mixture into 3 sandwich bags and add a few drops of your food colouring to each bag. Squish them up until the 'paint' is well blended. Add more water if you'd like thinner paint.

Monday 8th June - World Ocean Day

Today is World Ocean's Day. To celebrate this we would like you to do some research. Can you research the names of all of the oceans in the world? You can use a map or online or some books to help you with this. Watch the following video:  A Whales Tale Then we would like you to design a poster to warn others about the dangers of throwing rubbish in the ocean and what it is doing to the animals underwater.
