Thursday Science Task

Good Morning!

Today we are going to do a 'sink or float' experiment!



Firstly, ask your child:

What does 'sinking' mean?
What does 'floating' mean?

Once they understand the vocabulary, fill up a bowl or a bucket with water and gather objects from around the house or garden to experiment with. 

E.g.

Coin
Bath toy
Pen
Spoon
Cup
Straw
Tennis ball
 Can 
Apple

Before you start the experiment, ask your child to predict (guess) whether it will sink or float. Why do they think this? Were they right?

Here are this weeks numeracy tasks.  Monday - Exploring number bonds within 10.  Using your ten-frame that was included in your home learning pack (or you could draw one on some paper) can you explore what numbers make 10.   Can you list all of the different number sentences to make ten? How many are 1p coins?  Can you create and write a number sentence? Thursday -  Whose shoes? Can you find 4 different sized shoes in your house and put them in order of size?
