Thursday's Activities

Image
Morning everybody,  So, for today I've got a few activities for you to choose from based on some different interestests. I'm going to pop a few on the blog, please feel free to choose as many or as little as you like.  Have fun!

A note for parents.

Just a quick message, I have re-tested all of the links on the blog and they are all working from this end. Please note that if you are trying to open these on a mobile phone or a table that does not have Adobe Flash, this could be the reason that they are not working.  However, if you go onto Phonics Play or Top Marks you should be able to log-in there (using your own personal log-in) and search the activity from there.  Also, tomorrow is going to be our last working day of the week, this is due to Friday being a bank holiday. So, tomorrow will follow our usual Friday format, more fun activities rather than phonics or math based. Our workers of the week will also be added tomorrow and you will be able to watch the assembly with Mrs Speak at 2pm via the school website.  Please can I ask any parents emailing me work, if you could also upload it to Tapestry so we can assess it and add it to your child's evidence.  We are still looking for any parents (or older ...

Today we want you to imagine that you're going on a trip. You can go absolutely anywhere in the world.  Where would you go and why? What would you pack in your suitcase? Who would you take with you? How would you get there? Next, can you have a go at making your own airplane to get there? Follow the instructions below to make your own paper airplane, and then decorate it to create your own airline.  If you need further instructions you can watch the following YouTube clip:  Paper Airplane

Tuesday 5th May - Research time!

Image
Time to do some investigating!  We would like you to create a fact-file of a country of your choice.  You can choose any country in the world and we would like to know the following: What language is spoken there? Can you video yourself saying "hello" in that language? What is that countries national dish? How many people currently live there? (population) What is the weather like there? What does their traditional dress look like? Can you draw a picture of their flag? Hello to all the children of the world - you may also like to have a little sing-song!

Tuesday 5th May - Shared book

This weeks e-book will be Chicken Licken . The story focuses on Phase 2 and 3 sounds as well as rhyming words. After reading the book, please complete both activities.  Activity 1 - focuses on retelling the story  Activity 2 - focuses on labelling We would love if your grown-up could video you reading it, and upload it onto Tapestry, as we really miss listening to you read.

This week we are going to focus on Geography and the world around us, this idea was sent in by Saahil.  For today's task I would like you to do some research. I would like you to chose five items of food from your kitchen, and I want you to find out where in the world they come from e.g. the bananas in my fruit bowl come from Asia.  Can you draw a picture of the food item and then write a sentence about where they originate from?

This week our maths sessions are going to focusing on number, ordering, addition and subtraction.  Monday - Number  To begin our session please use the following link to play ten-frame flash with your children. We play this often in school, the image will flash up on screen and the children have to recognise how many were being shown on the frame.  Ten-frame Flash! What can you see? Based on the below ten-frames, I want to know everything you can see in each separate ten-frame. Try and pull out as many number facts as possible.  For example, "In the first ten frame I can see 4 and 6".  Tuesday - Ordering Numbers Using the following game, have a go at ordering numbers within 20.  Caterpillar Ordering Can you complete the below ordering activity?
