Project Friday - 12th June

The Queen's Birthday👑

The Queen is such an important person, that she has 2 birthdays! Her actual birthday (the day she was born) is on 21st April but her official birthday is on the second Saturday in June (which is tomorrow!).

This tradition started back in the 17th century because the King’s birthday was in November and he decided that it was too cold to celebrate his birthday then. So he decided to have another birthday in June so more celebrations could take place outside.

This official birthday is called ‘Trooping for Colour’ and usually there are lots of celebrations in London and around Buckingham Palace to mark the event. Unfortunately they are cancelled this year due to the virus, so instead we thought we’d create some lovely tasks for you to get involved at home.

Crown making

The Queen is the head of the Royal family so our first activity is to make yourself a crown. The Crown Jewels are very famous!

Royal Puzzles and Colouring

Puzzles and colouring are always a fun way to keep little brains entertained.

London Bus

The royals have always live in London and something very special to London are the London buses.

Can you make a London bus?
Who is on the bus with you?
Who is the driver?
