Phonics - Week beginning 30th March

This week our phonics sessions are going to focus on rhyming words and revising Phase 2 and Phase 3 sounds. 

 Please continue to use your sound book to revise all known sounds and choose one word bank per day practise segmenting and blending.

Monday - Creating rhyming word banks.
Below are four different words, I would like you to create word banks of rhyming words for each word.
  • Cat
  • Hot
  • Pop
  • Bed
Tuesday - Rhyming hunt
Can you find any rhyming objects around your home? E.g. a top and a mop, can you group these together and try writing the rhyming words. 

Wednesday - Create a rhyming ladder 
Choose two words endings, and create a rhyming ladder like the example below: 

Thursday - Performance day
Choose your favourite nursery rhyme or poem, and perform it for the camera. You could dress up and act it out. Then send the performance to your class teacher or upload it onto Tapestry.

Tuesday 19th May - Class book

Today's class book is  Everybody Worries . Once you've read the book I would like you to create your own 'worry monster'.  You could make one using junk modeling materials, or simply draw one. Then when you feel worried you can feed your worry to your monster, this will get rid of it.  Have a go, I can't wait to see what you create!

Number - Week beginning 30th March

Here are this weeks numeracy tasks.  Monday - Exploring number bonds within 10.  Using your ten-frame that was included in your home learning pack (or you could draw one on some paper) can you explore what numbers make 10.   Can you list all of the different number sentences to make ten? (see below example) 3+7=10 *Please note you can work within five if your child is struggling with ten.  Tuesday - Using the below as a guide, can your child complete the following for numbers 1-10.  For example:  Wednesday -  Coin challenge  Ask your grown up if you can count the coins they have? How many are 1p coins?  Can you create and write a number sentence? Thursday -  Whose shoes? Can you find 4 different sized shoes in your house and put them in order of size? What else can you find to order by length? Can you write a sentence to explain what you have noticed? Happy investigating!...
